Dr Meredith L.K. Sheil MBBS FRACP PhD

Dr Meredith SheilDr Sheil is a specialist paediatrician and cardiologist with over 10 years research experience investigating intensive surgical and medical therapies. She has undertaken a post graduate doctorate course and her research work in the field of paediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery has been published widely. In her 18 year career working in paediatric emergency departments, intensive care and cardiac surgery she has developed extensive skills in the management of pain in infants and children undergoing surgery and /or presenting with painful traumatic injuries.

In addition to this, Dr Sheil is a primary producer with over 10 years experience in both farm and domestic animal care and handling. She and her husband own a 1700 acre property in country NSW where they run superfine merinos, crossbred sheep and cattle, as well as owning dogs and horses. This provides Dr Sheil with a detailed understanding of the types of procedures and injuries experienced by livestock and domestic animals in this setting.

Together, this combination of experience provides Dr Sheil with unique skills that make her ideally suited to the task of designing ways to reducing the pain and stress associated with injury and / or animal husbandry procedures in livestock and domestic animals.

Dr Sarah Thompson B.Sc B.V.Sc. Hons.

Dr Sarah ThompsonSarah Thompson is a veterinarian who has worked in private practice for the past 13 years. Most of this time has been spent in mixed practice in Central West NSW, and the remainder working with small animals in Sydney.

Sarah had as a childhood dream the opportunity to be able to make a real difference to the lives of animals. A universal theme that bonds all people working and living with animals is that they will not tolerate any unnecessary suffering of the animals in their care. This is also being reflected by the global movement to minimize animal suffering and exploitation.

Sarah has relished the opportunity to be involved in the development of humane products with Animal Ethics, as great progress is being made to improve the quality of life for many animals.
